Lorraine Blouin

*1961 / Canada

Lorraine was born in Montreal, Canada. She trained at the National Ballet School of Canada in Toronto. After an apprenticeship with the company, she was invited to join the National Ballet of Canada in 1981 where she became a soloist in 1987. In 1988 she joined the Desrosiers Dance Theatre in Toronto and in 1990 she left Canada to join Nederlands Dans Theater. In 2004 she was invited to join the artistic staff of NDT 1 as rehearsal director.

After eleven years in this function, Lorraine left NDT and is now a certified Body Stress Release practitioner. Aside from her professional bodywork, she occasionally guests with NDT as ballet mistress as well as setting Jiří Kylián’s choreographies around the world. She has worked with various companies including Stuttgart Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, Norwegian National Ballet, La Scala Theatre Ballet and Bayerisches Staatsballett.
