Sabine Kupferberg

*1951 / Germany

Born in 1951 in Wiesbaden, in 1969 Sabine joined the Stuttgarter Ballett, helmed by John Cranko. In 1975 she joined her partner Jiří Kylián to become a dancer at the Nederlands Dans Theater. In her 31-year career with the company, numerous original choreographies were created for her by Hans van Manen, Mats Ek, Maurice Béjart, Robert Wilson, William Forsythe, Martha Clarke, Ohad Naharin, Michael Schumacher, Carolyn Carlson, Maguy Marin, Paul Lightfoot, Meryl Tankard, and many other major choreographers.

In 1991, she and Kylián founded NDT 3, the first company in the world for dancers aged 40 and over. Jiří Kylián has conceived for Sabine many choreographies, as well as installations and films. Four of these films will be shown within the Moving Still evening at the National Theatre in Prague.
